DESCRIPTION:SCA Roasting – Intermediate in Nepal Coffee Academy \nThe Roasting Intermediate course builds upon the introductory concepts of the Foundation course. It is ideal for someone who has roasting and desires to gain a deeper understanding of the roast profile\, how the profile relates to color\, the relationship between roast profile and sensory expression\, and the impact of development time. Learners will further explore the physical and chemical changes as well as basic thermodynamics and heat transfer that occurs during the roast. Thereafter there will be an introduction to sample roasting and a review of safety and maintenance protocols in the roasting plant. A written exam tests intermediate course knowledge while a practical exam assesses the learner’s ability to roast correctly and remove the coffee at the correct color using a reference\, while accurately completing the roast log form.

This grading system is crucial for ensuring that coffee farmers receive a fair price for their crops and that buyers can purchase high-quality coffee that meets their specific needs.\nBy providing training in green coffee grading\, people with disabilities can develop a valuable skill set that can lead to employment opportunities in the coffee industry. This training also helps promote inclusion and diversity in the industry and provides people with disabilities with a sense of empowerment and independence. Additionally\, the training can help promote sustainable practices in the coffee industry by ensuring that only high-quality beans are sold\, which can lead to better prices for farmers and a more environmentally friendly supply chain. Overall\, the Green Coffee Grading Training for People with Disabilities aims to promote social and economic inclusion while also supporting sustainable practices in the coffee industry. \nParticipants \nPeople with disabilities. There were 11 participants ( 7 female and 4 male) out of which 4 of them were wheelchair users (3 female and 1 male). The rest of the participants were having physical disabilities. The age of most of the participants was between 21 to 30 years.

DESCRIPTION:Inclusive Coffee Processing Training for People with Disabilities \nDate of the Training Event: 19 February 2023\nLocation of the Training Event: Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality ward No. 2\, Bichaur\, Lamjung \nOverview \nThe training program consisted of lectures\, discussions\, and hands-on activities. The lectures covered a wide range of topics\, including the right way of picking\, and immediate action for post-harvesting and processing at the farm level. The discussions provided an opportunity for participants to ask questions and share their experiences\, while the hands-on activities at the farm allowed them to apply the knowledge they had gained in a practical setting. \nParticipants: \nThere were around 20 to 25 observing farmers out of which 12 farmers (4 female and 8 men) participated from start to finish participating in all the activating of the training sessions. One of the participants (31M) was a visually impaired person for the last 27 years and this training event has trained him for coffee-pulping and drying.
